Join, and it starts on its own

Every tournament has a day and a time. Joining opens shortly before (15 minutes, unless the tournament says otherwise) and the tournament starts on its own: no check-in, no ready button. With fewer than two players it’s called off.

An entry fee is paid in seeds when you join, and Pro members join free. Leaving doesn’t refund it, joining again is free, and a tournament that’s called off refunds everyone.

Your table

The bracket seats 2 to 4 players a table, as evenly as it can. A table plays games until someone has the wins the tournament asks for, from 1 to 5; a game ends the moment the first player goes out, and the next one deals five seconds later with the opener moved on. The table’s winner goes through to the next round. Tournament tables have no bots and no voice, and three timed-out turns put you out of the tournament.

Tournaments are where Polish Makao is played for now, next to the Romanian rules. Jokers from your tray only work at Romanian tournaments that allow them.

Places and prizes

Finalists get exact places; everyone else shares a place by the round they went out in. Prizes are seeds, sometimes a badge, by place. Collect yours from the tournament; if you don’t, it’s credited after 7 days. Tournament games don’t count toward the season.

Three kinds

  • Public: on the schedule for everyone.
  • Club: set up by a club’s staff, for its members. Free, without prizes or points.
  • Private: anyone can set one up for up to 16 friends, at least 30 minutes ahead. Free, without prizes.
